Bargaining Update 7
Hello AMU Members,
Today, April 25th, 2018, your AMU Bargaining Committee met with GDPSC for the 10th time this year to continue to discuss compensation. It is because of your organizing efforts that GDPSC presented an offer today that finally matched the 3% off-schedule salary increase that returning AMU members received this current year by proposing a 3% increase on our salary schedule, averting a pay decrease for our members.
However, as Green Dot teachers and counselors know, good enough is never good enough. This is especially true given the current financial landscape where GDPSC has millions of dollars of increases in revenue to prioritize AMU members by proposing more sustainable salaries.
AMU highlighted numerical discrepancies in the presentations we are seeing and argued that teachers are not being made a priority in GDPSC’s budget. We continued the bargaining process with a decreased counter offer that made significant strides towards meeting the proposal by GDPSC but is still fair for our members and sustainable for GDPSC.
Negotiations ended today with no counter-offer from GDPSC. Bargaining will continue in May on a date to be determined.
In order to ensure that student learning is the number one priority in our classrooms, we ask that all salary related flyers be removed from classrooms and hallways and moved to either teacher’s lounges or AMU bulletin boards. Show your support of AMU Negotiations by posting the “I Support my Bargaining Committee” flyers in and outside your classrooms.
Reminder that the GDPSC board meeting is this Friday, April 27th at 2:00 p.m.
As always, please email me at bargainingchair@amuanimo.org if you have any questions or concerns.
Best,
Ben West
